Where do you start?
It’s a fair question, and from layout to finishes touches, there is a lot to consider when embarking on your journey to your dream kitchen.
But, every dream starts with a plan, so first, you’ll need to grab a pen and paper and break it down into manageable steps.
At Appleton, we’re all about doing the hard work for you, so we’ve put together a short and simple guide to help you get started:
Start with what’s in front of you.
Make a list of what you want from your new kitchen design.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What do you hate about your current kitchen?
- What do you love about your current kitchen?
- Do you have enough storage and worktop space?
- Do you have the right seating and lighting?
- Do your kitchen appliances work for you and are they located where you need them?
It doesn’t matter if this list ends up as long as your arm, or you just want something new and fresh, this will form the starting point of your plan.
Decide on a budget
Deciding on a budget is a bit like your shopping list; all the little things will add to your total figure.
It’s important to have an idea of what you think your top-line budget is, this should be something you can comfortably afford (there’s no point in having a luxury kitchen but living on beans!).
We have a wide range of kitchen designs to suit all budgets, all of them high quality and beautiful.
We have a wide range of kitchens to choose from, all of them high quality, incredible value and beautiful too.
When putting this final budget together, here are some things to consider:
- Any structural/renovation work
- Your kitchen furniture
- The appliances
- The installation
- Final touches
When you have this estimate, you can work out what you have left to spend on everything else or the things you might need to cut back on if you find yourself over budget.
Choosing a kitchen style.
This is the fun part, so enjoy it.
Do you want modern or traditional? Minimalistic or charismatic? Urban or chic? Or no idea?
Once we’ve got an idea of the kind of kitchen you’re interested in, we can mock up some realistic CAD drawings of exactly what your kitchen will look like.
This will allow you to make changes and decide on the finer details like colours, splashbacks and accessories.
Last, but by no means least – kitchen appliances
We work with Bosch, Neff and Siemens, which means we can offer a wide range of kitchen appliances to suit everyone.
We have some ovens and hobs that will blow your mind, but if you’re looking for something both budget-friendly and easy on the eye, we’ve got kitchen appliances for that too.
