Wow. For more than just a second there, 2020 had us all at a halt.
We stopped in our tracks, wondering what our next step would be.
But the good news is, for Appleton Designer Kitchens, it was just a brief pause button. We’re very busy getting clients back on track with their plans to achieve dream kitchens, so we’re in our happy place!
As we enter the latter part of the year – kitchen trends are showing that lockdown has got us all with our foot on the gas; ready to evolve our kitchens into a multifunctional haven in which we can cook, work, eat, and more importantly, socialise!
In fact, recent studies show that despite the Government encouraging us to ‘get back out there’, the nation has fallen back in love with staying in.
Last year saw many taking more risks in their living spaces. So, if 2019 was the year of going bold, what does 2020 look like?
Even bolder!
Yep, we’re going darker. Blues, greens, greys, and even blacks.
A popular favourite with boutique restaurants and fancy cocktail bars, we’re now itching for warm light and moody tones, teamed with brass finishes, for a classy kitchen that feels luxurious and looks expensive.
Add in a breakfast bar with leather or suede chairs and a wine fridge, so that staying in really can be the new going out.
One of our clients recently chose dark wood furniture and a kitchen door that matched. It instantly set the kitchen apart from the house and gave it a real wow-factor.
Two-tone
Whether you’re going bold, want neutral shades, or are venturing into the world of pastels, two-tone kitchens are a simple way to inject personality into any design.
So before you complete your chosen design, have some fun. Try swapping your kitchen island to a different colour – you might just love it!
This trend is versatile; it can be applied to any kitchen style and instantly changes the feel and dynamic.
And two-tone doesn’t just apply to colour, you can play around with materials too. Adding wood elements as your second tone is a great way to make larger spaces feel warmer.
Minimalism
A word that was in favour a few years ago, and may have gone a little quiet, but this trend manifests itself in different ways.
Think open-plan (less walls to put furniture against). Handleless cupboard doors (sleek, clean designs).
You get the idea – the point is less clutter equals fresher, up to date designs that in turn mean beautiful, minimalist kitchen designs.
No matter what the size or shape of your kitchen, if you’re reading this and wondering how you can incorporate these trends into your design, we can bring help them to life. So get in touch!
